A day at a Castle

Day four of the school Holiday’s and we are of to discover a Castle!

Living in Kent is great, We have a few beautiful Castles within 40-50 minutes away. We also have the choice of a few National Trust and English Heritage properties too.

We decided to go to Leeds Castle  which is just 38 minutes away (according to the Sat Nav) , the weather looked good so We packed a little packed lunch and of we went.

Bear is really starting to get into history which is great I love learning about the Past as it has helped our country and our world to become how it is today.

Bell is still at the age where she just loves running around the gardens of the castle and feeding the ducks and swans.

At Leeds Castle  there are two  beautiful play area one for the younger children and one for the older children.  They do get busy as they are quiet small but its Ideal size for my two.

We tried buying Ice Cream in one shop but it was Cash only, I typically only brought my bank card as we already had the pass to get into the Castle.  We managed to get one in the shop further up luckily or there would of been tears and not by the children hehe. I have learnt my lesson to take money and not my card next time we go.

I think Leeds is very reasonably priced Under 4’s go free, 5-16 £16.50 and Adults £24.50. There are discounted rates for people with disabilities and  their carers. The ticket lasts one year and one day , which is great especially over the Summer Holiday’s it will defiantly keep Bell and Bear busy.

The other great thing about this stunning place is they offer a bus for the elderly to get up to the castle (may take my Nan next time!) and a little Road Train which is £2.50 per adult, children travel free.

They sometimes offer craft for the children and Knights and Princess school but I think that is mainly over the Easter Half term. They also have a lovely Christmas Market with stalls and a few children’s rides,  so I can’t wait to go back to.

The grounds are very buggy friendly, but you will need to leave your buggy in the buggy park and walk to the castle as it isn’t very buggy friendly so if you have a baby sling please do take it, it will come in handy. Also some reins if you have a little walker.

Sunshine after the Rain…..

I know I have said it before but Cancer truly suck’s! Bear and Bell have truly given me plenty of sunshine through the rain, since mum passed away from cancer.

They are happy, content children. They do have tantrums, they can be horrible as they are both stubborn and there is no reasoning with them when they have their tantrums!

Bringing up stubborn children is so hard, most probley as I am stubborn too.

We now have a reward chart for good behavior and helpfulness inside and outside the home.

We have a Gro-Clock for Bear (and Bell). It is mostly for Bear as he has been waking up at 4.45am for the day. What with Bell waking up 2-3 times a night I was exhasuted! Physically and Emotionally. Things are getting so much better now we have the Gro-Clock we have set the Sun to come up at 6.30 am and it does work most day’s.

Bell is still waking up for milk but we have swapped milk for just water so hopefully in a few days or a couple of week’s she will sleep all night.

But apart from the sleeping , or lack of it they are certainly my sunshine after the rain….

Disney Cars ….

We Recently spent the day at Brands Hatch.

I came across a post on Facebook that mentioned the Car’s from the Disney film Cars were going to be up there!

I was a tad excited we didn’t tell the children we were going so all the way there we had “are we there yet?” “where are we going?” “are we going on a plane?” “I’m hungry!” the usual rambling’s of a child or two!

We took packed lunch, I am so glad we did a Burger and chips was almost £8 with out a drink, but the food did look amazing for burger and chips!

There were a lot of car’s from america NYPD and LA police force and a man in uniform!

The children loved watching the cars zoom around the track and we were going to walk in the pit area but Bell was starting to slow down, this was the first day we didn’t take a buggy!

There is a little play park and there were bouncy castles the lady running one of them even swapped with the gentleman so she could help Bell which was very thoughtful of her to do even though I was very happy to go on too!

The children saw a ice cream van and asked for one so we said yes especially as the weather was very warm and we did so much walking around!

Me, Myself and I… Oh wait who am I kidding…

I am a mum of two Bell who will be three soon and Bear who turned 5 in the last couple of months. I also have two fur babies and a big child who will be 36 in a few weeks… the Big child is my husband if you didn’t guess!

We aren’t rich, we aren’t poor. We don’t live in a big house and I currently have drawings over my wall by the children. Unless you ask Bell who did it and she say’s Willow the cat. Yep my thoughts too how can a cat draw on the wall.

wellies and mud

If anybody ask’s what I do they will probably ask what don’t I do… I work part-time, I help with the local Rainbows unit (Girlguding), I love reading and I am there for my friends when they are feeling down and out.

I used to live near Lewisham, which is in London, but have always had family living in Kent. When my mum passed away of Cancer I moved to were I am now, and I love it. I have the countryside on my doorstep and live in a lovely little village. If anybody who knew me when I lived in Lewisham said where could you see yourself in 10-15 years time living I certainly would not of said Kent! I am certainly turning into the country girl and the London girl is certainly disappearing, but it won’t go 100%.

We love our Holiday’s ….well I certainly do! A week in the sunshine no work, no school and no cooking! We love being outside when the weather is nice and not so nice! We love just dancing in the rain and laying in muddy puddles! Hench the photo of the Muddy wellies in the wash!

We love baking and craft, We love spending time with family and friends. We love just chilling and watching a DVD or playing board games even though  I admit I do cheat a bit!

Hope you enjoy reading my Blog, I’m sure you will get used to my awful spellings and punctuation!
