The Coffee Shop

I’m sitting in the coffee shop around the corner from my place, one day it’s really quiete and the next is so busy.

I am not complaining one bit, the coffee shop is a little independent shop, with fabulous staff and a lovely atmosphere.

Today it’s busy, the coffee shop is hosting a Macmillian coffee morning and there are a few groups of people, 6 ladies who are chatting loudly who keep looking around and apologising  almost every five minutes for being loud, the keep fit ladies who are sitting out the front, two gentlemen who are celebrating a birthday and three ladies who always seem to be in here having a chat but mostly listing into other people’s conversations.

This is why I love the coffee shop there is always a mix of people, you hardly ever see the same people sitting in.

The cakes are amazing here they are mouthwatering. They don’t bake them themselves but they have a lady who bakes and brings them in.

There is a wide selection of hot drinks, unfortunately I do not drink hot drinks, but hubs does so he has plenty of choice.

There are plenty of choices for sandwiches, wraps and paninies. Either hot or cold.

The milkshakes!!!! If I had the money I would have one everyday, they have fresh fruit, chocolate bars and biscuits to choose from, and if they don’t have what you fancy take it with you as they offer a discount, I only found out about this the other day when they ran out of my favourite sweets!

Now here’s the most important things you need to know, the staff are brilliant, they go above and beyond for you, like today it was a gentleman’s birthday who seems to go in quite a bit and they had a happy birthday banner up for him.

No request is too big or too small for the staff here.

The only down side is the coffee shop is small and if there are a few buggies it does get very tight, but I’ve never had a problem with this.

So enjoy!

Day two of summer

It’s day two of summer, they are both hyper, they are both arguing with each other, Bell is being a little madam and demanding everything and anything.

We had to get out of the house try and burn some energy of.

We popped to Tesco and then to the Nature Trail for a run around.

The nature trail is lovely full of birds, goats, wallaby’s , pigs, ducks and chickens.

There are little paths and down most of the paths there are little houses made from natural materials.

There are also lots of ideas to encourage insects into your garden. Such as building Bug hotels and plants to attract certain bugs.

We can feed the fish, ducks and chickens for 20p each. Which I divide food mix between Bear and Bell.

The entry price isn’t too bad either, its one of the cheapest morning or afternoon out for a family and even cheaper if you buy the annual pass which I have done.

Day one of summer

Wow, we are being spoilt by this amazing weather!
I am being OCD, sun cream applied every few hours, unfortunately my two point blank refuse to wear sun hats.
We have been to the library, we have been to Pick your Own (again!) and we even had a treat if Macdonald’s

We love PYO, the fruit is so fresh and yummy, and its a great way for the children to learn about growing fruit and vegetables.

The library is doing a summer reading challenge, 6 books over 6 weeks. We usually read about 14 books a week as we love stories and reading.
We are obviously taking part!

A busy weekend…

We  have had a busy weekend. My cousins are back from uni and have spent this Saturday entertaining Bear and Bell for me. We have visited the horse’s at the local stables and we have gone to a play park around 15-20 minutes drive from our house where there is a huge sand pit!

My cousin has deiced to join the bubble society at her university (who knew?). We love bubbles especially Bell. They are so calming to watch floating away with not a care in the world. Its a beautiful sight especially when you catch the sunlight in the bubble it causes them to look a bit like a rainbow.

The play park has mini golf, a ice cream van and four different sections, which is great if you have mixed age children. I am always on tender hocks in busy place’s. I am terrified I will lose one of them! I love my little local park as I can see all the way round and not panic too much!

We have started our Summer Holiday homework. Bear is learning about Dinosaur’s when he goes back to school and has to do at least two of the 8 things on the list unless “parents” have some ideas. Just need to remember to take it in, when we go back in September!

I have realized  I need to plan my blog’s more and do some on a more daily basics. I will certainly try, but with the 6 weeks holiday’s here I’m sure I won’t have a moment to myself!

Why Did I Decide to Blog…

mudpies

In my house we love mud, baking, craft, meeting friends and having fun! It’s mainly me as hubby work’s practically 7.45-5 then some day’s its 7.45-11/12pm! It’s like being a single mum when his very busy, he also works Saturday’s and the occasional Sunday’s too! Now you can see what I mean by it’s like being a single mum!

Why did I decide to start Blogging?

This is actually my third attempt at blogging! I decide to start blogging to start a sort of journal for Bell and Bear. But with work commitments and family life everything seemed to get in the way. So this is my third and last chance of having a go at being a blogger!

There are pro’s and negatives to blogging, first the pro’s…. There is a lovely memory of what you have been up to as a family and how your life has changed. The beautiful photos too. But Blogging can also be about reviews and what you think of a product. I am not saying I won’t review I will never say never but at this moment in time I am not reviewing products, maybe when or IF should be the correct word I get lots of followers then I may start, Unless Walt Disney, wish to me to review one of their Amazing Hotels then obviously I will jump at the chance to do a review… Who wouldn’t ??

mudpies and fairy wings

The con’s are your family are on show and you never know who is reading the blog, I personally will not be taking photo’s of my children in the bath or naked for this blog, I wouldn’t want a image like that on my blog whether its my own child or someone else.

I think my children’s education comes first well before blogging, If a chance ever came up to take Bear (Bell is at Pre-school so a bit more laid back) out of school for a 4 night break during school term, I would decline, Unless its Walt Disney. On a serious note if I could make sure the break was 100% educational and obviously  the school agreed  and I felt it would actually benefit him and her and not just I need a break I would seriously consider it, but the likeness would be a no.

hastings 2016

I would also be very cautious in what I wrote if it had other people in, as I wouldn’t want them to be upset over something I have written, Friendship and Family come first over blogging, but this is my own personal views.

With the summer holiday’s fast approaching I thought it would be a great time to start again as a Blogger, especially as I work part time, Volunteer with the local Girl-guide’s Unit and of course being a mummy to Bear and Bell!

I am of to start my adventure into the world of blogging… wish me luck I am sure going to need it!

Teepee Fun

Don’t you just love a sunny day?

Bear was at school myself and Bell had the day off from work, I should of been doing housework but we decide to make a TeePee or Tipi instead.

We went to a local independent fabric shop and we found some we liked. We then popped to Homebase to get some wood and string.

It was very easy to put together my GCSE in woodwork paid off. I had to drill some holes, one in each piece of wood, big enough for some strong string. then cut the fabric and nailed it on. Easy peasy .

It was also the fraction of the cost from a shop brought one!

Why we love living in Kent….

Why we love living in Kent…..

We are 35/40 minutes away from central London, and have direct train to Charing cross, London bridge and Waterloo.

We have the country side right on our doorstep, little villages and of course a small town center which seems to be getting better and better each year I am here.

We have two big supermarkets within 2-10 minutes drive and another on about 30 minutes either way from where we are.

We have hardly any buses, they come every 30-60 minutes.. sometimes I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

We have some lovely schools, where 60% of the schools still only have max 30 children, my son’s class has currently 27 children.

We have a few private schools ! (If only my budget would stretch!!)

We have a few grammar schools too!

More importantly we have a lovely village we live in and my Daughter will be going to a pre-school where my cousin went 18 years ago and the same ladies are there!

Me, Myself and I… Oh wait who am I kidding…

I am a mum of two Bell who will be three soon and Bear who turned 5 in the last couple of months. I also have two fur babies and a big child who will be 36 in a few weeks… the Big child is my husband if you didn’t guess!

We aren’t rich, we aren’t poor. We don’t live in a big house and I currently have drawings over my wall by the children. Unless you ask Bell who did it and she say’s Willow the cat. Yep my thoughts too how can a cat draw on the wall.

wellies and mud

If anybody ask’s what I do they will probably ask what don’t I do… I work part-time, I help with the local Rainbows unit (Girlguding), I love reading and I am there for my friends when they are feeling down and out.

I used to live near Lewisham, which is in London, but have always had family living in Kent. When my mum passed away of Cancer I moved to were I am now, and I love it. I have the countryside on my doorstep and live in a lovely little village. If anybody who knew me when I lived in Lewisham said where could you see yourself in 10-15 years time living I certainly would not of said Kent! I am certainly turning into the country girl and the London girl is certainly disappearing, but it won’t go 100%.

We love our Holiday’s ….well I certainly do! A week in the sunshine no work, no school and no cooking! We love being outside when the weather is nice and not so nice! We love just dancing in the rain and laying in muddy puddles! Hench the photo of the Muddy wellies in the wash!

We love baking and craft, We love spending time with family and friends. We love just chilling and watching a DVD or playing board games even though  I admit I do cheat a bit!

Hope you enjoy reading my Blog, I’m sure you will get used to my awful spellings and punctuation!
