As you may know by following my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook I love a good book!

Here are my top four reads for January and February 2017

Girl Online  by  Zoe Sugg

Why I choose this book?

I choose  this book as its about a Girl who Blogs. I thought it may be funny and a good read especially where I am so new to blogging. I also think it maybe a  light hearted read, just what I need after the hectic Christmas holidays!

This is her first book she has ever written, who knows after reading this I may have to track down a few more of her books.

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

Why did I choose this book?

I have already read “Gone Girl” by this brilliant author so I thought I would give this a go.

This is a book about siblings and how Libby try’s to undercover the truth.

This seems like a Wonderful, atmospheric book with full of suspense loaded in.

Baby Doll  By Hollie Overton

Why did I choose this book?

To be honest I didn’t. Hubs went to Tesco to buy the paper and he came back with this. It would be a book I would choose though. Its a Psychological thriller and I really enjoy these types of books.

Pretty girls by Karen Slaughter

wp-image-2129300204jpg.jpg

Why did I choose this book?

This book was advertised in the local supermarket, the cover was eye catching and being described as Razor-Sharp plotting and detail. Really caught my eye.

This is also by a author who is The Sunday Times Number 1 Best selling Author.

What type of books do you like to read?

Who needs sleep part 4

Bear is actually sleeping really really well this week. I’m not sure why?

Maybe its because the mornings are slightly darker and autumn has kicked in.

Maybe he is actually eating more, and we have a lock on the kitchen door.(I found 4 wrappers of chocolate, two cake cases and a yogurt, the other morning!)

But this week it is Bell who isn’t sleeping. Bell was up last night every hour, crying for no reason. (checked temperature, pull up was dry, water cup was fall and the muslin was there)

wp-1473236693341.jpg

I have ruled out night terrors as she isn’t in a deep enough sleep to get into a deep sleep for them to start. I have ruled out teething too!

I’m starting to wonder if she is going to bed over tired but she is going to bed at 6.30pm so its not actually late, I suppose it could be too early? But her bed time has always been 6.30-7pm.

Who knows!

I’m Hoping for a better night tonight so fingers crossed!!!

Who needs sleep part 3

I think this week is going to be much better, I am not sure if its pure exhaustion or the nights and mornings are slowly drawing in who knows but I think this week will be better!

Day one week 2

Last night we had the usual bedtime routine bath and bed all by 7pm, and guess what Bear slept in until 5,30! I know that’s still early but it beats 4.30!

Day two week 2

What is happening! 4.30 am is seriously not a good time, we haven’t done anything different at all either! Bear is going to be moody today!

Day three week 2

Yay 6am! 6am! finally a decent hour, not sure why he got up at 4.30 am yesterday but yay!!! One happy mumma, shame Bell woke up 4 times in the night look’s like her turn to be moody!

day four week 2

5.45am, why oh why do the times keep changing! Just why? I need sleep, I turn moody and grumpy without sleep and I am trying to cut my sugar habit as well which isn’t going well

Day five week 2

Yay! 6.30am I could get used to this and Bell feel asleep at 9pm last night, what is going on with them if its not one its the other!

day 6 week 2

6.30am! yay this is better, Bear is 100% less grumpy and so is Bell! Bath time is at 6.30 and bed is at 7pm, I’m guessing its the whole new routine of school and nursery kicking in!

Day seven week 2

Oh great! 5.30 am from Bear, we were doing so so well too! Oh well week three will be a better week, but saying that this week has been pretty good!

Who needs sleep anyway Diary Part 1

Bear was always a good sleeper until around 18 months, then it would be a constant battle, he would be awake at 3am then gradually getting later we finally manged to get Bears to stay asleep until 6am sometimes half 6 if we were lucky!

Now fast forward to age 3, we go back to waking at 5am, our bedtime routine never changed, apart from the time he went  to bed to earlier to later, to see if it would help him sleep longer. But that didn’t work.

We are now aged 5 and this morning it was 4.30am, yes you read that right 4.30am!!!

We have tried everything since he was 3 years old.

We have tried the reward chart, the groclock, black out blinds, getting him in bed with us until a decent hour, cutting out sweets and all junk food. Nothing seems to work!

We are of on holiday soon, but when we are back we are seriously going to kick this waking at 4 30 habit. I am hoping that once on holiday he will actually sleep longer . We are also going to take our gro black out blind with us too, as we know how see through curtains seem to be on holiday!

When we are back we are going to make sure both the blinds are always down at bedtime, we have a black out roller blind, a particle black out roller blind, the groclock is going on a shelf where Bear can not reach it as he does reset it, also ensuring the bedtime routine is always the same, even if it means we are not going out mixing with others for a while. I think sleep is more important than socialzing as Bear gets really emotional when he hasn’t had enough sleep and this starts at around 3pm!

I am going to be cutting out rubbish food 100% no sweets, crisps anything unhealthy will be gone, even though we don’t eat that much unhealthy stuff.

Sleep is a important part of growth and development for a child.

It helps their emotions stay balanced (well as they can be for a child!) They sleep helps them to ensure they grow well and help their eductionl development. As they are getting enough sleep to concentrate during the day.

I will be doing a who needs sleep diary weekly as soon as we are back of holiday….

In the end…

In the end life is a journey, a journey to become the best we can be. We mess up, we don’t mess up, we live life to the full, we hide way in the shadows.

But where does our journey end? Does it end when we die? Does it end when we full fill everything we need to do, by this we keep getting reincarnated to achieve this. Do we start of as small  bugs, at the bottom of the food chain and work our way up to become humans? Is their life after life on earth? Is Earth actually the place to learn from our mistakes before we go to another planet or universe.

Do we get reincarnated until we get it right before we move to another planet in another universe?

I don’t think anybody would truly know what happens when we die. Nobody as of yet has found life on other planets of our solar system. Mars has been proven that it once had water on. Were we really ment to live on Mars and our past lives destroyed the planet so much we had to move here to Earth? Are we really ment to have 25 hours a day and stay away from the sun. That is one of the theories I have read, it could be logical as Mars has a 25 hour day and is away from the sun.

I think I have lived before, I am very drawn to history especially Victoriana era and I love space.

What will happen to our planet if we keep destroying it?

There are so many questions I am asking, I will have to start researching this a bit more.

I personally think it’s fascinating that there could be so much more to our journey, the world and space that we are yet to discover the new ideas and views we could come across.

Do you believe in reincarnation, other lives?

Things I would do…

Things I would do differently if I was lucky enough to have baby number three.

Bear was first born, we had almost everything for him from a state of the art travel system to a bouncer which sings and dances.
With Bell, we had all the essentials and the things we never used with Bear were of the list.

Now if I was ever lucky enough to have baby number 3… (never say never!) I would do a few things differently.

  • I would use reusable nappies – the costs soon add up with desposables and its mot good for the envioment and there are some super cute designs around now a days
  • Breastfeed, I couldn’t breastfeed with Bear or Bell but I would actually ask for support and have a good go.
  • Baby wear, with Bear toddling and Bell in the buggy it was easy to hold a hand and push but logically with two hands to hold and a buggy to push it wouldn’t be possible.
  • Baby led weaning, okay I did this with Bell and I would so do this again, it was so easy and laid back.
  • Vaccinate. Now I am doing so much research into this and the pros bad cons. I never researched this with Bell and Bear but I will certainly do it this time around.
  • Toilet training I would let baby do it when they are ready same as I did with Bell and Bear.
  • Travel system- I would just buy a stroller they are only rear facing for a max 4 months.
  • Car seat I would buy a car seat which went from birth to 4/5 years as I never actually got the car seat out of the car with Bell,  I  did very rarely with Bear, but not often.
  • Changing bags I would choose a Pink Lining one which would be compact as to be honest the changing bag ended up full of rubbish!
  • Toys I would buy a few as they soon grow out of them and I’m sure the baby would prefer playing with Bell or Bears toys….

What would you do differently if you had another baby?

Why I still choose what Bear and Bell wear…

I think I have a OCD in dressing my children, I can not stand mix match Pjs or clothes which don’t go together.

It makes me feel uneasy.

I don’t know why, it just does! I know I should encourage independence in encouraging them choosing their own clothes but I can’t do it… not just yet.

I am very lucky that Bear is very laid back and seems to wear what I lay out. Bell too most days. I do give them choices don’t get me wrong. They can choose out of two or three outfits. Usually they mix and match so I make sure that they all go together in some way or another.

Bell is getting very independent and is a proper girlie girl and has  mind of her own when she dresses herself!

Luckily she seems to make sure the clothes goes together, unlike Bear.

When Hubs gets the children ready for bed he seems to think mix match PJS are okay to wear… (they are but just not in our house) I have been  known to wake the children up and redress them!

I sort of keep their clothes simple and almost 60%of their clothes go with everything eles they have.

Underwear etc for some reason do not need to match! Maybe because I can’t see it and we have done the whole toilet training where they ended up with mix match vest and pants by 10am…

I am dreading the time when Bell and Bear choose their own clothes and they don’t match!

Cake smash 2014

I never heard of a “Cake smash” when Bear was just approaching his 1st birthday.

With Bell, I saw a few friends who mentioned about having a Cake smash photo shot.

I was very interested and went on to Google to find out what and why there was so much fascination about Cake smash photo shot.

A cake smash photo shot usually happens before or just after the babies birthday.

It is a photo shot where your child can destroy a cake and eat it too!

It’s a chance to document a turning of age and hopefully create some magic memories…..

Yep unless your Bell who didn’t break up the cake and was more interested in the balloons!

We headed of to a friend who does photography  (hubby does photos but he wasn’t impressed with this idea not sure why?) Anyway she had the room nicely set up and the cake was beautiful with icing and icing lace around.

We started of putting Bell in front of the cake she didn’t know what to do, we ended up breaking it up for her.

Bell then actually started to mush, crunch and break it up.

She also ate a bit with Bears guidance!

I have to say it was great fun but a serious waste of cake!!!

Would I do it again??

Yes I would… if I had the chance to!

Elf on the Shelf….

This post is Christmas related …..

Have you heard of Elf on the Shelf?
No?

Okay… to me it’s a very American tradition. The Elf which arrives on the 1st December every year. The Elf is sent by Father Christmas to come and keep a eye out on your child and make sure they are being good so they can stay on the nice list.

Every family seems to do things differently.

Last year (2015) we had Buddy the naughty Elf to visit. Oh he was a pickle he ate all the chocolates out the sweet box, he swung from the light shades and he even knocked over the Christmas tree amongst other things.

Bear and Bells favourite thing last year was their pants and knickers on the Christmas tree!

Some families have a nice Elf come to stay. They do really helpful and kind things. They leave notes to say thank you for having me, bring some thing of the children’s favourite things, leave the chocolate box untouched, do the ironing and the hoovering.

I’m hoping the nice Elf comes this year.

The Elf goes Christmas eve morning so he can help santa prepare for the long night he has ahead of him… He leaves  nice breakfast and a Christmas eve box which has new pj’s, dvd, hot chocolate and a snack.

Will you be having a visit from A Elf this year? I hope we do…..

Flash back to a day shopping….

Bear was around 18 months old, and we had a day shopping at our local shopping center.

Bear was very slow in talking, his speech didn’t really start until he was almost two years old and he would not stop talking or parrorting everything everybody was saying.

Bear had a growth spurt so we Popped out shopping as I didn’t have work, housework was done and to be honest I really needed to get out the house for a bit.

We had a slow walk around the shops, brought the essentials for Bear, spent the last of his birthday gift voucher and Popped into  the Disney store.

Whilst we were walking round. Bear spotted the balloon stall, he kept pointing to the helicopter balloon and I said to him (this sounds like I’m a naggy mum but to be honest I really didn’t want to buy a balloon!!!) , if he could say Helicopter I would buy it for him, we went into another shop and then went to make our way home. On the way back we passed the balloon stall again and as clear as day Bear pronounced Helicopter as clear as day… and true to my word I brought the balloon. I was very proud as Helicopter is a very hard word to say at 19 months old!!!!

So my warning here is be careful what you say as it may leave you out of pocket….
