Perfect Glasses Review

Summer is fast approaching and I was very egar to get some sunglasses sooner rather than later. The only difference was that this year I would have to get prescription sunglasses. Even though I have my reaction lens day to day glasses they aren’t that great with full on sunshine, and with our holiday to Lanzarote getting less than 13 weeks away the race was on.

I received a email from Perfect Glasses which is based in the UK  , which is also a  Glasses online retailer, who kindly offered me a chance to review for them.

There was a great choice of glasses, titanium glasses and of course sunglasses. There are lots of brands to choice from starting from as little as £27. There are lots of styles which are suitable for women in their section for women glasses and men to choice from which would suit everyone’s face shape and personalities. If you know the shape of your face there is a chance to try on the glasses via a few photo’s which gives you a good idea whether or not that style would suit you. There are even lots of designer glasses  to choice from too!

The great thing about this UK based website is that the frames are discounted already so you could get a pair of frames for around half the price. They also sometimes have offers on, which makes the frames even more of a barging!

After having a long look through their prescription sunglasses  I asked if I could review the Esprit sunglasses and they said yes.

The service was really nice and polite even though it took me a few day’s to get hold of my prescription from a leading high street opticians. Once I got my prescription to them I received them less than a week. The sunglasses came in a lovely sunglasses cases and they were well wrapped up with bubble wrap and a padded envelope to protect them from any bumps and knocks whilst going through the postal system.

The quality of the frames are hard wearing and good quality. To be honest I have heard a few horror stories about ordering lenses on line and that they won’t be the same quality as if you went into a opticians but Perfect Glasses has certainly put my fears to one side as the prescription was perfect and I could see clearly, read and drive on the one day of glorious sunshine we have had since I received them!

Perfect glasses also have a section on their website which offers a chance to get your current glasses to be  reglaze. I will certainly be using this service for both my sunglasses and normal glasses if my prescription changes in the near future.

I really can not wait for the sunshine to come to the UK, I don’t think I can wait another 13 weeks to wear them!!!

Why I shouldn’t be here…

Watching somebody die whether it’s from old age or a long term illness is horrible.  But so is loosing a child. I’ve been lucky (touching wood frantically!) I have two healthy, clever, bright children. Who do push the limits, who do scream and shout, who do 1001 things they shouldn’t do but overall I always think how lucky I am.

I technically should not be here, I should of died when I was a year old because of NHS waiting lists for open heart surgery. My nan phoned the hospital up and demanded that I had surgery or I wouldn’t be here in a fortnight’s time, luckily a space came open and I had open heart surgery not once but twice and I survived.

I came close to death a 2nd time when I was 18/19, I had appendixes they almost burst, my windpipe collapsed during theater and I had to be revived. (I survived again!).

My third and hopefully last until I’m old and annoying! Was when I had Bell. C-sections are not easy, I lost 2 liters of blood, if they couldn’t get the blood to stop I would of bleed to death.

It goes to show how strong and how advanced the NHS has come. Many people used to die during c-sections, during basic operations.

I feel lucky I am alive!

Embrace life, take it in your hands and don’t look back on the past, unless it’s happy memories of course!

Who needs sleep part 4

Bear is actually sleeping really really well this week. I’m not sure why?

Maybe its because the mornings are slightly darker and autumn has kicked in.

Maybe he is actually eating more, and we have a lock on the kitchen door.(I found 4 wrappers of chocolate, two cake cases and a yogurt, the other morning!)

But this week it is Bell who isn’t sleeping. Bell was up last night every hour, crying for no reason. (checked temperature, pull up was dry, water cup was fall and the muslin was there)

wp-1473236693341.jpg

I have ruled out night terrors as she isn’t in a deep enough sleep to get into a deep sleep for them to start. I have ruled out teething too!

I’m starting to wonder if she is going to bed over tired but she is going to bed at 6.30pm so its not actually late, I suppose it could be too early? But her bed time has always been 6.30-7pm.

Who knows!

I’m Hoping for a better night tonight so fingers crossed!!!

Who needs sleep anyway Diary Part 1

Bear was always a good sleeper until around 18 months, then it would be a constant battle, he would be awake at 3am then gradually getting later we finally manged to get Bears to stay asleep until 6am sometimes half 6 if we were lucky!

Now fast forward to age 3, we go back to waking at 5am, our bedtime routine never changed, apart from the time he went  to bed to earlier to later, to see if it would help him sleep longer. But that didn’t work.

We are now aged 5 and this morning it was 4.30am, yes you read that right 4.30am!!!

We have tried everything since he was 3 years old.

We have tried the reward chart, the groclock, black out blinds, getting him in bed with us until a decent hour, cutting out sweets and all junk food. Nothing seems to work!

We are of on holiday soon, but when we are back we are seriously going to kick this waking at 4 30 habit. I am hoping that once on holiday he will actually sleep longer . We are also going to take our gro black out blind with us too, as we know how see through curtains seem to be on holiday!

When we are back we are going to make sure both the blinds are always down at bedtime, we have a black out roller blind, a particle black out roller blind, the groclock is going on a shelf where Bear can not reach it as he does reset it, also ensuring the bedtime routine is always the same, even if it means we are not going out mixing with others for a while. I think sleep is more important than socialzing as Bear gets really emotional when he hasn’t had enough sleep and this starts at around 3pm!

I am going to be cutting out rubbish food 100% no sweets, crisps anything unhealthy will be gone, even though we don’t eat that much unhealthy stuff.

Sleep is a important part of growth and development for a child.

It helps their emotions stay balanced (well as they can be for a child!) They sleep helps them to ensure they grow well and help their eductionl development. As they are getting enough sleep to concentrate during the day.

I will be doing a who needs sleep diary weekly as soon as we are back of holiday….

The world is changing…

The world is changing at a scary place. People seem to be loosing the compassion and kindness to others. The community spirt which once was is slowly fading if not already dying out.

There was a saying I remember from college “it takes a village to raise a child”. This is very true. Back in the 1940’s (and probably before and after that date too) people would watch over people’s children whilst they nipped to the shops, helped each other without wanting anything in return. Helped if there was a problem and called the emergency services if need.

Now let’s skip forward to 2016. Where smart phones seem to be out when somebody does something wrong so people can shame them via Facebook and other media outlets. Where people stand and film somebody being attacked or in a accident. What happened to talking to people or writing a polite description or just say “hi if you were her between 9 and 10am please contact me”
What happened to reporting things to the police before you name and shame. There was a post regarding a local shopping center of a attempted abduction of a child. Before I shared (it was already shared by 100 ‘s of people) I sent a quick email and the shopping centre didn’t know anything about it and the lady blocked the account from them. Where do people get of with lies and shaming people for no reason?

Why do people think it’s fine to get away with shaming and accusing people?

With so much technology there is now cyber bullying also known as trolling. This can happen to anybody you can be at work, school, blogger or just somebody minding your own businesses. If it happens to you do report it the police take this seriously. It can destroy families and lives.

There is so much voilance in the world it is a daily occurnace. The good things people do are hardly mentioned. The bad things how ever are. With growing threat of terrorism around the world most countries are on high alert.

I’m not saying there wasn’t terrorism back in the 1940’s or before that date. There were wars the biggest terriosim of all.

I’m not saying the world will get worse, I’m not saying this world will get better. What I am saying is if everybody makes a little difference, going to speak to the mum who looks unhappy at a toddler group, helping somebody get a trolley or help get something down of the shelf, a simple smile, a simple please and thank you will slowly make the world become a better place and hopefully compassion and kindness will return.

Depression

This is a bit of a rant post so apologises in advance if it annoys you.. Why do people use the word depression so loosely?

I am lucky enough not to suffer from depression but I do know people who do suffer from depression.

It’s certainly not a nice thing to have, it’s hard to watch people go through this but you need to be there for them and support them through their journey. We need to break the stigma and taboo of talking about mental illness and we need to do it now!

Here is the defintion for anybody who wpuld like to know.

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble doing normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes you may feel as if life isn’t worth living.

So please do not use the word depressed lightly it certainly isn’t a light matter. Let’s break the stigma

Sunshine after the Rain…..

I know I have said it before but Cancer truly suck’s! Bear and Bell have truly given me plenty of sunshine through the rain, since mum passed away from cancer.

They are happy, content children. They do have tantrums, they can be horrible as they are both stubborn and there is no reasoning with them when they have their tantrums!

Bringing up stubborn children is so hard, most probley as I am stubborn too.

We now have a reward chart for good behavior and helpfulness inside and outside the home.

We have a Gro-Clock for Bear (and Bell). It is mostly for Bear as he has been waking up at 4.45am for the day. What with Bell waking up 2-3 times a night I was exhasuted! Physically and Emotionally. Things are getting so much better now we have the Gro-Clock we have set the Sun to come up at 6.30 am and it does work most day’s.

Bell is still waking up for milk but we have swapped milk for just water so hopefully in a few days or a couple of week’s she will sleep all night.

But apart from the sleeping , or lack of it they are certainly my sunshine after the rain….

Why Did I Decide to Blog…

mudpies

In my house we love mud, baking, craft, meeting friends and having fun! It’s mainly me as hubby work’s practically 7.45-5 then some day’s its 7.45-11/12pm! It’s like being a single mum when his very busy, he also works Saturday’s and the occasional Sunday’s too! Now you can see what I mean by it’s like being a single mum!

Why did I decide to start Blogging?

This is actually my third attempt at blogging! I decide to start blogging to start a sort of journal for Bell and Bear. But with work commitments and family life everything seemed to get in the way. So this is my third and last chance of having a go at being a blogger!

There are pro’s and negatives to blogging, first the pro’s…. There is a lovely memory of what you have been up to as a family and how your life has changed. The beautiful photos too. But Blogging can also be about reviews and what you think of a product. I am not saying I won’t review I will never say never but at this moment in time I am not reviewing products, maybe when or IF should be the correct word I get lots of followers then I may start, Unless Walt Disney, wish to me to review one of their Amazing Hotels then obviously I will jump at the chance to do a review… Who wouldn’t ??

mudpies and fairy wings

The con’s are your family are on show and you never know who is reading the blog, I personally will not be taking photo’s of my children in the bath or naked for this blog, I wouldn’t want a image like that on my blog whether its my own child or someone else.

I think my children’s education comes first well before blogging, If a chance ever came up to take Bear (Bell is at Pre-school so a bit more laid back) out of school for a 4 night break during school term, I would decline, Unless its Walt Disney. On a serious note if I could make sure the break was 100% educational and obviously  the school agreed  and I felt it would actually benefit him and her and not just I need a break I would seriously consider it, but the likeness would be a no.

hastings 2016

I would also be very cautious in what I wrote if it had other people in, as I wouldn’t want them to be upset over something I have written, Friendship and Family come first over blogging, but this is my own personal views.

With the summer holiday’s fast approaching I thought it would be a great time to start again as a Blogger, especially as I work part time, Volunteer with the local Girl-guide’s Unit and of course being a mummy to Bear and Bell!

I am of to start my adventure into the world of blogging… wish me luck I am sure going to need it!
