Okay it doesn’t sound exciting but with Christmas fast approaching money is tight. With autumn being mild, we are able to get out and about and explore the local area a bit more too, as well as taking full advantage for our National Trust Memberships.

We will also be making some pictures to go into frames for relatives for Christmas presents, as requested by my aunt and cousin.

Learning, books and Ipads

When I was younger, there wasn’t Google, Yahoo or ask jeeves to search your research we used books.

Everything now a days you can find out from searching the Internet, whether that’s from your phone, tablet, laptop or computer. Everything is at the touch of a button.
Even some schools  relay on Internet for children to search for information if they are doing a project.

This got me thinking about when Bear and Bell start to research for projects or wanting to find out more about something they have learnt at school. Will I allow them to just jump on the Ipad and search what they want to know, or will I encourage them to find a book and read from there what they need to know…

As you may know if you follow my twitter and Instagram I love books, and I mean LOVE books,  I really wish I had a bigger place so I could start my own library, with a comfy chair and some lovely cushions… I can dream.. anyway what was I saying…

So you may of gathered by now I would 100% encourage them to read books to find out the information they need.

Why will limit the amount of time let them use the tablets?

Technology devises give of small amounts of radiation, which isn’t good for anybody!

It encourages poor posture and strains the eyes.

It over excites the brain! Which then would make the children not be able to fall asleep easily.

You can get so many different books to find out information, you can get books from places you visit, books for helping learn maths, about your body, flap books, feely books the list goes on and on.

And reading a book is so much more beneficial then sitting on a tablet/Ipad, as you can’t guarantee the correct spellings or punctuation on the website! Maybe I am such a book worm that I really hope that one day Bell and Bear will love reading as much as I do.

Who needs sleep part 3

I think this week is going to be much better, I am not sure if its pure exhaustion or the nights and mornings are slowly drawing in who knows but I think this week will be better!

Day one week 2

Last night we had the usual bedtime routine bath and bed all by 7pm, and guess what Bear slept in until 5,30! I know that’s still early but it beats 4.30!

Day two week 2

What is happening! 4.30 am is seriously not a good time, we haven’t done anything different at all either! Bear is going to be moody today!

Day three week 2

Yay 6am! 6am! finally a decent hour, not sure why he got up at 4.30 am yesterday but yay!!! One happy mumma, shame Bell woke up 4 times in the night look’s like her turn to be moody!

day four week 2

5.45am, why oh why do the times keep changing! Just why? I need sleep, I turn moody and grumpy without sleep and I am trying to cut my sugar habit as well which isn’t going well

Day five week 2

Yay! 6.30am I could get used to this and Bell feel asleep at 9pm last night, what is going on with them if its not one its the other!

day 6 week 2

6.30am! yay this is better, Bear is 100% less grumpy and so is Bell! Bath time is at 6.30 and bed is at 7pm, I’m guessing its the whole new routine of school and nursery kicking in!

Day seven week 2

Oh great! 5.30 am from Bear, we were doing so so well too! Oh well week three will be a better week, but saying that this week has been pretty good!

Bell’s First Week at Preschool

Bell has had her first week at preschool, by week I mean she attends three days a week until 1pm.

Monday morning she was so excited helped pack her packed lunch bag, and kept saying “I am going to Preschool”. She got dressed with a bit of help and let me put her hair in a bunch, she even wore Bear’s old preschool jumper it swamped her!

Bell went in without any tears and played happily, the preschool even sent a text letting me know she was okay, which was lovely.

All afternoon Bell was asking to go back to see Hearn the dog and to play with her friends.

Tuesday was fine too, but Wednesday! Bell was fine got ready as usual, helped pack her packed lunch, walked to preschool fine but nope I went to leave and she cried and screamed and screamed.  She will be fine, the ladies said they were of to play in the garden and she was having cuddle’s with Bears old keyworker when I left….

The fun of parenting, I am sure they do the tears to make you feel guilty for leaving them, but I promise and I know from experience working in nursery’s that they will be fine after a few minutes.

Bell was fine when I picked her up!

Who needs sleep part 2 ……

Oh my goodness, this week Bear, yes Bear has been trying to wake his sister up! You would think after holiday he would be getting up later BUT no anytime between half past four and half past five! Really even the milk man doesn’t deliver this early!

Day one: Week one!

Bear wakes up at 4.30am, yes you read that right, 4.30am! He obviously is taken back to bed and the cat willow is looking at us very strangely as she wants to play.

Bear then decides to sign and talk to himself for a good 15 minutes before going back to sleep until 6am… thank goodness it’s Sunday tomorrow….

Day two

We spent the afternoon running around the garden yesterday to wear him out… bed was 7.30pm after a nice long bath, we have the Gro black out blind, a roller black out blind and  a particle black out blind… will I get a layin, nope he is up at 5.30! Seriously I can not wait for the teenage years to kick in…

Day three

5am and Bear is awake jumping on Bell’s bed and guess what she is now WIDE awake! I’m hoping once the clocks go forward Bear may sleep in!

Day four

Dispute going to bed at 7.15pm Bear was up well before 4.45am! I’ve taken him back to bed at least 3 times! I am going to pop to Neals yard tomorrow and ask them for some advice they may have a cream or bath oil which may help…

Day 5

I didn’t get to Neals yard instead I ended up in boots and brought some lavender bubble bath for children… it worked sort of bed at 7.30pm but up at 5.45… we really getting there slowly….

Day 6

Oh my goodness sleep is so over rated! Bear was up at 5am! 5am! We didn’t change anything we used the lavender bubble bath, the blinds and bed at 7.30… Bell decided it was fun to wake every 45 minutes last night…

Day 7

So who’s bright idea was it to cut out sugar when Bear doesn’t sleep? Yep mine, I am so glad I don’t mind early mornings but geeze 5am again! Time for a rethink on the bedtime routine!!!! Bell decided to wake up every 2 hours last night too!

It’s that time of year again..

It’s only my second year of buying school uniform and it certainly adds up. New shirts, new trousers, PE kit and shorts and new socks and shoes.

This year and next year will be the last year’s before Bell starts primary school. The jumpers are unisex luckily and so are the PE kits so we will save those for Bell, unless for some reason they end up in a awful state!

We usually go to Sainsburys for our school uniform but this year we heading to Marks and Spencers. Why? The uniform is very similarly priced to Sainsburys and Marks and Spencers had 20% off the day we visited too plus they sell school shirts with the velcro top button!

The school jumpers must have the school logo on. So last year I brought Bear two sizes too big and they will fit for this year too.

The one good thing about our school is they have a second hand uniform sale, I brought Bear his school coat for £1.50 instead of the £22! But hardly nobody wears the actual school coat to be fair.

Bear has got so many stains on his school shirts from last year, that they will have to be thrown away. But not before I take off all the buttons! I’m sure they will come in handy!

We have almost everything brought, expect for school shoes and the coat which we will get at the last minute now, as I have brought everything eles a size bigger than we actually need.

All I need to do is name lables them all!!!

I seriously can not believe that when they go back Bear will be in year 1!
