The Simple Things

mudpies and fairy wings

The simple things in life are free, dancing in the rain, to seeing nature bloom and spending time together. Money doesn’t buy happiness it doesn’t buy sadness either. You learn to live within your means. You grow confidence in becoming a teenager, a adult and a parent you learn through the good and you learn through the bad.

You learn that people who make up lies are insecure of themselves and want others to feel insecure themselves.

You learn Bullies or Trolls will sometimes not say things to your face but some hide behind others or behind a screen. They will talk bad about you behind your back and your friends will always be true. You learn to stand tall and you learn to remember that life is too short to hide away, you learn to be proud of who you have become and realize you won’t go down to their level.

You learn that the loneliness people are usually the most kindest people you will ever meet. You learn the generous people are usually the one’s who have nothing to give or if they do they don’t want anything in return. You learn the happiest people may have some sadness in their lives but will always be positive throughout everything. You learn the positive thinking people are usually the most confidant people you will ever meet.

You learn that the truth will always come through. You learn that everyone hopes they will follow their dreams and many people do with the support of family, friends and the confidence within themselves.

The best things in life are free, you certainly realize that as you get older and have children or grandchild. Expensive holiday’s, clothes, cars, phone’s and joining groups and clubs ( even though they are great for social skills!)  aren’t what will make your children happy it’s spending time with them. They won’t remember how much you spent on things its how much time you spent with them which will away’s matter.

They won’t remember the bad day’s you have, they will remember the happy times they have had with you. They won’t want for anything other than love, affection and honesty from you. Which will help them develop into kind, caring, loving adults.

They will learn that the little things in life are always the best and the free things in life will become the most amazing memories they have.

I am saying this as Bear only seems to remember the trips we have taken which didn’t cost the earth, he remembers going to the beach and building sand castles and splashing in the sea, he remember’s playing in the paddling pool at his great nanas with his cousins, he remembers playing with his friends in the garden. He remembers going to the nature trail when he was younger or playing in the swimming pool when we are away abroad. He remembers the simple things like making pizza and cutting his own vegetables and helping me make dinner.

So you see children seem to remember the simple things, the things which don’t cost the earth, things which are free. Please do not get me wrong, I love a holiday aboard it helps develop their understanding of different cultures and to see the world. But as I get older and wiser I certainly realize the little things are the things which you will remember more.

Inhertitance

One of the amazing men who I miss dearly is my grandfather. I was just 3/4 years old when he passed away.

My favourite memory is of him mixing chocolate moose into a smooth texture and feeding it to me.

My grandfather was (I am lead to believe) was born without any legs. There was a national campain to raise funds for “some legs” and he was in the local paper and national paper.

He worked for the Minstry of defence and he even met the Queen when she visited his work.

The place he worked is now being turned into a housing development.

My cousin and her partner got the coin collection and we got the fabulous stamp collection. All the stamps are pretty 1985 and from all over the world. Some of the countries I haven’t even heard of so I will be reading up on what they are currently called and will be logging them down.

I think some date back to the war!

It’s amazing looking at them and seeing how the images of stamps have changed over the years.

I don’t think the stamps will be worth anything but I won’t be selling them anyway they are far to precious to sell on to somebody else. Unless it is worth millions and millions of pounds but I don’t think they will!

Precious time with Bell and Bear

I’m sure many parents have day’s that they wish it nearly bedtime. Mine are usually when Bell is up most of the night, and I am shattered.
But to be honest I rather them be up and spending quality time with them both. Life is far too short, children grow up so quickly.
Please do not get me wrong I would love 5 minutes peace, but I would certainly miss them or worry they are causing havoc somewhere!

I used to…

I used to spend so much time responding to everyone else, being there for everyone and them not being there for me I am going to start making more time for me.

How is that possible when you have two children, a house and housework to do. I think it is working out a balance and it will certainly be easier when Bell starts Pre-school in September I will have Monday mornings child free!!! (as much as I adore, love and miss her I need some me time )

I am going to start to get into my spiritual side, with lot’s of relaxing meditation calming music and read up on Buddhism .I won’t swap my religion I am Spiritual I believe that every religion has good and bad points and its how you use what you know to fulfill your needs.  I am going to start eating more healthy (we do eat healthy but some days are better than others)

I am going to let go of all the negative things in my life and focus on who wants to be part of my life and who doesn’t. Life is far to short to worry and make time for people who can cut you out of their lives whether its family or friends. Please do not get me wrong I am all for Second chances but it won’t be me making that move.

Call it childish, immature but at this present time in my life I need to focus on myself and my family. I need to look after myself and take time to relax and enjoy life and not let everything sit on top of me.

I am not sure how it works I am such a worrier, I have to check my bank that I have paid my council tax, rent etc at least 4 times!

I have to double check the door even three times before i go to sleep. i worry that the children will go missing, I worry I am not doing enough for them, I worry I am not earning enough, to support the children if anything happens to Hubby.

But I am going to give it ago, This is a new chapter in my life’s journey and I am excited where it will lead…..

Day at home is all we need….

Its so nice not to worry about getting dressed, dashing out the door and going to work or out on a adventure. I personally think it does children the world of good to stay indoors for the day just chilling and relaxing.

icing decorations

Today we haven’t really done that much I have done two loads of washing, let the gas man in to check everyone’s meters (the joys of living in a flat), let the post man in , spied on the guy swapping our water meters over and wait patiently for my new phone to arrive. The phone I have coming is the Samsung Galaxy S6, I was very adamant that I didn’t want a Samsung and wanted a Iphone, but after playing with a couple in the EE shop I thought that the Samsung Galaxy S6 would be better, even though the S7 is also out the gentleman said there wasn’t much difference in the price. I Can’t wait to get it, now I need to Google  how to transfer my contacts over to the new phone or everybody will be getting a random message on facebook/ shared message explaining I have no idea how to Import my contacts please text me or Private message me if you want to be in my phone book.

We have played with Lego, Barbie and baby born,  baked cakes, played with the cat’s, hung the washing up and had lunch. We still are not dressed and its just gone 1pm in the afternoon.

I think I have a slight cupcake case obsession, I have loads! I always try to make the cake’s from scratch, purely as then I know what has gone into them. Many pre-brought cakes (I do like a pre-baked Mr kipling lemon cake) But the amount of added ingredients is really shocking.

We are getting dressed soon as we are of to the Circus tonight. It is at the local garden center about 10 minutes drive and is very child friendly.

We are now just relaxing watching some Cbeebies .Whilst we let our Lunch go down, then maybe we will be a bit naughty and watch a film and have some sweets, or we maybe good and do some painting.

Bear and Bell have had a morning of arguing, I think it’s because they are bot getting into a new routine for the holiday’s and being together 24/7 is more of re-learning that each other does need some space and not to be annoyed by each other, even though they love each other dearly!!

A day at a Castle

Day four of the school Holiday’s and we are of to discover a Castle!

Living in Kent is great, We have a few beautiful Castles within 40-50 minutes away. We also have the choice of a few National Trust and English Heritage properties too.

We decided to go to Leeds Castle  which is just 38 minutes away (according to the Sat Nav) , the weather looked good so We packed a little packed lunch and of we went.

Bear is really starting to get into history which is great I love learning about the Past as it has helped our country and our world to become how it is today.

Bell is still at the age where she just loves running around the gardens of the castle and feeding the ducks and swans.

At Leeds Castle  there are two  beautiful play area one for the younger children and one for the older children.  They do get busy as they are quiet small but its Ideal size for my two.

We tried buying Ice Cream in one shop but it was Cash only, I typically only brought my bank card as we already had the pass to get into the Castle.  We managed to get one in the shop further up luckily or there would of been tears and not by the children hehe. I have learnt my lesson to take money and not my card next time we go.

I think Leeds is very reasonably priced Under 4’s go free, 5-16 £16.50 and Adults £24.50. There are discounted rates for people with disabilities and  their carers. The ticket lasts one year and one day , which is great especially over the Summer Holiday’s it will defiantly keep Bell and Bear busy.

The other great thing about this stunning place is they offer a bus for the elderly to get up to the castle (may take my Nan next time!) and a little Road Train which is £2.50 per adult, children travel free.

They sometimes offer craft for the children and Knights and Princess school but I think that is mainly over the Easter Half term. They also have a lovely Christmas Market with stalls and a few children’s rides,  so I can’t wait to go back to.

The grounds are very buggy friendly, but you will need to leave your buggy in the buggy park and walk to the castle as it isn’t very buggy friendly so if you have a baby sling please do take it, it will come in handy. Also some reins if you have a little walker.

Day two of summer

It’s day two of summer, they are both hyper, they are both arguing with each other, Bell is being a little madam and demanding everything and anything.

We had to get out of the house try and burn some energy of.

We popped to Tesco and then to the Nature Trail for a run around.

The nature trail is lovely full of birds, goats, wallaby’s , pigs, ducks and chickens.

There are little paths and down most of the paths there are little houses made from natural materials.

There are also lots of ideas to encourage insects into your garden. Such as building Bug hotels and plants to attract certain bugs.

We can feed the fish, ducks and chickens for 20p each. Which I divide food mix between Bear and Bell.

The entry price isn’t too bad either, its one of the cheapest morning or afternoon out for a family and even cheaper if you buy the annual pass which I have done.

Day Three of Summer Holidays

It’s Day Three and I haven’t opened the wine yet.
The weather has turned sour so we are spending the day indoors and having chilled out time with some films whilst at work.
The little child I nanny for is at Nursery tomorrow so a chilled day will certainly do her the world of good especially as she is full of cold.
We have brought a tent to play in and some toys even though choosing films is much more fun!
Bear has asked to go to the cinema over the school holidays, which is fine I am just wondering if Bell will sit through a whole film or not.
Maybe we will try over the weekend or when my cousin is off as don’t fancy taking Alfie out of the cinema if Bell isn’t enjoining the film as that would not be fair.
When we are at home our chill out days usually mean baking cakes, painting, drawing, and reading books.
I have always been a lets not sit in front of the TV all day But seriously some days you really need to chill out and relax, especially after a busy term at school.

Day one of summer

Wow, we are being spoilt by this amazing weather!
I am being OCD, sun cream applied every few hours, unfortunately my two point blank refuse to wear sun hats.
We have been to the library, we have been to Pick your Own (again!) and we even had a treat if Macdonald’s

We love PYO, the fruit is so fresh and yummy, and its a great way for the children to learn about growing fruit and vegetables.

The library is doing a summer reading challenge, 6 books over 6 weeks. We usually read about 14 books a week as we love stories and reading.
We are obviously taking part!

A busy weekend…

We  have had a busy weekend. My cousins are back from uni and have spent this Saturday entertaining Bear and Bell for me. We have visited the horse’s at the local stables and we have gone to a play park around 15-20 minutes drive from our house where there is a huge sand pit!

My cousin has deiced to join the bubble society at her university (who knew?). We love bubbles especially Bell. They are so calming to watch floating away with not a care in the world. Its a beautiful sight especially when you catch the sunlight in the bubble it causes them to look a bit like a rainbow.

The play park has mini golf, a ice cream van and four different sections, which is great if you have mixed age children. I am always on tender hocks in busy place’s. I am terrified I will lose one of them! I love my little local park as I can see all the way round and not panic too much!

We have started our Summer Holiday homework. Bear is learning about Dinosaur’s when he goes back to school and has to do at least two of the 8 things on the list unless “parents” have some ideas. Just need to remember to take it in, when we go back in September!

I have realized  I need to plan my blog’s more and do some on a more daily basics. I will certainly try, but with the 6 weeks holiday’s here I’m sure I won’t have a moment to myself!
